Broadway Facts

One of the musical form expression is through broadway. It is a very popular one in the United States and it has become a status or a standard. The Broadway has seen thousands of performers and different genres of performances. Let us know some facts on this Broadway.  Broadway is the one that is the name of the street in New York City and it is the longest one. What is interesting is that not all the theaters are located in the Broadway.

One fact on Broadway is that it is the first street in the city that was installed with electric bulbs in the time of 1890s. They had enhanced it even by putting lights also on the signage. In the WWI, the lights have been dimmed by the government due to lack of coal but were increased so the lights would be the same according to the demand of the public. When it comes to the seating arrangement, the letter i is not included as it brought confusion and disagreement to viewers as they thought i is number 1.

The “Phantom of the Opera” is the longest-running show that is performed in Broadway and the next in rank is the Chicago. The first one had gained a high revenue as compared to a stage play or films like Titanic and Star Wars. Chicago is based on a real event that happened and was formatted as a comedy on Broadway. The show that has made the biggest revenue is the Lion King. This resulted in Julie Taymor to receive a “Tony Award for Best Director of a Musical”.
